Nurture My Nature is a calm, creative learning community run by me, Sarah — a home-educating parent of a child with SEND who needed a place to learn and grow outside of the mainstream. Based at Leigh Spinners Mill, we have two dedicated centres — a mindful educational setting and a calm, creative hub — alongside running community sessions and learning beyond the centre through Trail Days. Together, our work supports children, young people, and families through education, wellbeing, creativity, and meaningful real-world experiences, delivered in a flexible, thoughtful, and individual way.
Our approach is shaped by lived experience and almost two decades of professional experience. As a home-educating parent and practitioner, I understand the realities of learning outside traditional school settings, particularly for children and young people with additional needs. Learning at Nurture My Nature is practical, hands-on, and led by the children and young people, with academic skills woven into real life through nature, everyday experiences, places, stories, and experiences beyond the centre. Wellbeing and mindfulness sit at the heart of everything we do, because we know that confidence grows when people feel safe and understood and with confidence comes curiosity. This work is supported by strong professional foundations, including a Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Teaching Assistant training, A levels in English, Biology and Geograohy and ongoing training in Education, SEND, safeguarding, and wellbeing.
At its core, Nurture My Nature is about supporting children and young people to feel confident, connected, and capable — academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Nest – Educational Setting
The Nest is a mindful, nurturing learning environment for children and young adults, including those who are home educated, EOTAS, awaiting placement, or rebuilding confidence. Sessions are small, SEND-aware, practical and flexible, with wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We place a strong emphasis on emotional safety, self-esteem, and regulation, understanding that children learn best when they feel secure and understood. Education at The Nest is relationship-led and child-centred, with great care taken in how groups are formed to support positive peer relationships, social confidence, and a sense of belonging. We work gently, at an individual pace, building trust over time and encouraging meaningful connections alongside learning.
The Den – Creative Space & Community
The Den is a calm, welcoming creative space where people of all ages can slow down, make, and connect. It hosts a variety of relaxed, mindful creative sessions, some designed for children and their parents or carers to enjoy together, and others offered as evening drop-off sessions for older children and young people. The Den is also available to hire for workshops, small group sessions, and community or business events. At its heart, The Den is a creative hub — a shared space for creativity, connection, and meaningful time together.
Trail Days – Exploring the wider world
Trail Days are our learning experiences beyond the centre for children and teens aged from 8, following a connected path of learning through history, science, culture, and the wider world. These days may include visits to museums, heritage sites, castles, wetland centres, National Trust properties, local nature reserves, and other places of interest. Sessions are calm, SEND-aware, and relationship-led, with small, thoughtfully formed groups that support wellbeing, confidence, and positive peer connections. Trail Days extend the same values found in The Nest and The Den, offering a gentle step outward into the wider world.
Council funded provision.
We work with local authorities and accept council-funded provision, including EOTAS packages and Personal Budgets. Every package is individually tailored and developed with input from parents or carers, professionals, and the child or young person themselves. Support may draw on a combination of centre-based provision in The Nest or The Den, alongside Trail Days, to create a balanced programme that reflects individual needs, interests, and goals. Provision may be delivered on a one-to-one basis, or begin that way to build confidence before gradually moving towards small group settings that support relationship-building and social development. Support is delivered flexibly, in the family home, within our centres, or out in the community, and is designed to meet agreed outcomes while remaining responsive to wellbeing, safety, and meaningful progress.
Community Hub
Our community sessions take place in The Den and offer a calm, creative space where families can slow down together. Children and adults alike are encouraged to get creative, while also having the chance to enjoy a brew, a chat, and time with others. These relaxed sessions are about building friendships, sharing experiences, and creating a sense of belonging — giving families space to make together and adults the opportunity to socialise, feel supported, and find their people.
Nannying – OFSTED registered Nanny
Our Ofsted-registered nannying and professional babysitting is provided in your home or out in the world, depending on what the day has in store. Support is safe, nurturing, and flexible, tailored to your family’s individual needs. Care is relationship-led and responsive, with a strong focus on wellbeing, emotional security, and continuity. This service is usually offered on an ad hoc basis to provide calm, reliable and flexible support that feels consistent and reassuring.
PA Support
Personal Assistant support for children and young adults, offering consistent, compassionate care that builds trust and provides continuity across home, community, and educational settings. Support is relationship-led and tailored to the individual, with a focus on wellbeing, confidence, and growing independence. PA support can be offered through Direct Payments or on a self-employed basis, and is delivered flexibly around each young person’s needs, routines, and goals, providing steady, familiar support that helps them feel safe, understood, and able to engage with the world around them.
